Jaime de Piniés is Managing Partner of Piniés & Aguilar Asociados, S.L. Drawing from his experience in banking, brokerage, risk management and international organizations, Jaime supports clients in financial communications, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations and corporate communications.

Jaime’s previous experience includes having been managing director of corporate communications and investor relations for Banco Santander Central Hispano (Santander), the Spanish banking group, where he handled the North American side of the business. He also led investor relations programs for all the Latin American banks of this group. At Santander Investment, the investment bank of Santander, Jaime was head of research and established the equity and fixed income research teams in Southern Europe and Latin America.

Earlier, Jaime was vice president and risk manager for institutional investors as well as chief economist for Spain and Portugal at the Chase Manhattan Bank. He served at the United Nations and at the International Monetary Fund and was an Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance at The University of Texas at Austin and an Adjunct Professor of Economics at New York University.

Prior to successfully completing a Management Buy Out of Piniés & Aguilar with his long time partner, Guzmán de Aguilar, in July 2008 from Huntsworth plc, Jaime had been senior managing director for Europe and Chief Economist of The Global Consulting Group (now Grayling Global). Previously, Jaime was managing director Spain and worldwide director of financial communications and investor relations at Golin/Harris International.

Jaime earned his doctorate and master degrees in economics from Princeton University and his bachelors from Harvard University. He also holds a law degree from the UNED of Spain.

In addition, he is a regular columnist in Libertad Digital and previously at Expansión, ABC and the monthly publication Euroforum. He has authored numerous articles regarding the economic and business climates of Spain and Latin America in books and professional journals.

Jaime is a member of the International Advisory Council of the American Management Association (AMA) since the year 2000 and was appointed a Trustee of AMA in December 2009.
